Question: Belinda, congrats on your final and your Top10 debut. How tough was it to play your friend from the juniors years?
Belinda Bencic: Thank you, I’m in the Top10 now indeed. I’m very happy about today’s win. It wasn’t easy to play against Dasha. She has a very unique game. I remember her from the juniors.
BB: I think he was right. Sometimes it did look like a juniors match. We haven’t played on the tour for ages, we’re not your thirty-something players.
Q: Starting Monday you’re in the Top10. What does it mean for you and what are your plans for future?
BB: Yeah, it’s a very big day for me. Since I was a small kid I was dreaming of becoming a Top10 player. And now this dream came true, the hard work paid-off. It’s an amazing moment for me. My next goal is just to keep going and winning matches and still to enjoy myself.
Q: You’ll face Roberta Vinci in the inals. What will you do to win the title?
BB: Roberta is a very experienced player, she has a great backhand slice and reads the game well, she plays differently. But I’ll just try to do the same game I showed today – to move deep into the court and play faster. And we’ll see.
Q: How do you feel about seeing the two top seeds in the finals?
BB: I think, it’s great for the tournament. We proved we are top seeds, normally, it doesn’t happen too often.
