Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova and St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy defending champion Kristina Mladenovic will fight for the title on Sunday. Both semifinals matches on Saturday were very close and lasted more than 2 hours each.

In the first semi Petra Kvitova defeated Julia Goerges 7/5, 4/6, 6/2. “I am really happy I got a WC at this tournament. And now I made it to the finals. That was my main goal”,- the Czech confessed. Mladenovic reached the finals here for the second year in a row as she prevailed over Daria Kasatkina 3/6, 6/3, 6/2. Kristina made 8 breaksDaria broke 6 times. « I won because I was better fitness-wise, I played more consistently. Daria felt down more often and those slips of attention of hers lasted longer. I just had one thing in my head – that I really want to defend my title. I was taking more risks towards the end”,- Kristina noted.

Kvitova will fight for her 21st title WTA, while Mladenovic look to win just her second one.

Meanwhile Timea Bacsinszky and Vera Zvonareva reached the finals in doubles. They outplayed top seeds Gabriela Dabrowski and Xu Yifan – 6/4, 6/2. “It’s really great to play with Timea. We had played before with her a couple of times before my lay-off. And we played all right. Now Timea is coming off a long break after surgery. So we’ve met here again and decided to team up. I think we are a cohesive team with good synergies. That helps us on the court”,- Zvonareva said in her post-match on-court interview.

Now the Swiss and the Russian will vie with Alla Kudryavtseva(Russia)/Katarina Srebotnik(Slovenia) for the title.
