The final list of participants for the V anniversary edition of the International WTA Tennis Tournament St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy which will be held in St. Petersburg from Feb. 10 to Feb. 16, 2020 has been announced.
Among the competitors are the world stars of the women’s tennis, including the past winners of St. Petersburg’s competition: Petra Kvitova from Czech Republic (no. 7 in the world ranking, St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy 2018 champion), Kiki Bertens from the Netherlands (no. 8 in the world and the defending champion of the tournament), the champion and runner-up of the 2017 edition Kristina Mladenovic from France (no. 39) and Yulia Putintseva from Kazakhstan (no. 34).
Other interesting players expected in St. Petersburg are an up-and-coming WTA athlete, Roland Garros 2019 runner-up from Czech Republic Marketa Vondrousova (no. 16), the US Open 2018 semifinalist from Latvia Anastasija Sevastova (no. 27) and the former world’s no. 4 in singles, Roland Garros 2016 doubles winner, Fed Cup 2019 champion from France Caroline Garcia (no. 46).
It is worth noting that on Dec. 9, 2019 the WTA officially announced that St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy – for the second year in a row – was recognized as the best WTA tournament in the Premier category, according to the players’ voting.
