FC ZENIT BECOMES THE COUNTRY’S CHAMPION FOR THE 7TH TIME!
On July 5 St. Petersburg’s team made an early claim of the Tinkoff Russian Premier Liga champion’s title and set a new tournament’s record for the earliest win of the title – four tours ahead of the end of the season.
The team gained 62 points in 26 matches – the result impossible to challenge for its competitors.
During its history Zenit has won the most important title of the country 7 times – in 1984, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2015, 2019, and 2020.
The blue and white team is the only Russian club to ever win all the major national titles: the Championship, the Cup, the Super Cup, and the Premier Liga, and they are the only club in the country which owns two international titles: UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup.
St. Petersburg’s club’s first match as a current Tinkoff Russian Premier Liga champion will take place on July 8 in Gazprom Arena and will be against FC Sochi.
