GASANOVA OUTGUNS ZAVATSKA IN THE LONGEST MATCH IN ST. PETERSBURG

The 21-year-old Russian Anastasia Gasanova failed to convert a matchpoint in the 2nd set, yet rallied to turn the tide and won her match against the Ukrainian Katarina Zavatska in R1 ot St. Petersburg Ladies  Trophy –  6/2, 6/7(6), 7/5. The tennis players spent 3 hrs and 4 mins on court to set the record in singles match duration in the history of St. Petersburg’s tournament.

«I always play long matches, I had 4-hour long matches throughout my career, but today it was really a tough one. I told myself: “Now or never” (when serving for the match in the 3rd set at 6/5). And it helped me to win”, Gasanova said after the match.
