IRINA-CAMELIA BEGU WILL FACE TEREZA MARTINCOVA
The Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu defeated Petra Kvitova from the Czech Republic, two-time Wimbledon champion and former world number 2, in straight sets – 6/4, 6/0. The match lasted 1 hour and 9 minutes. “Obviously, it’s always tough to play with a great player. She is a great player. I think I played a good, solid tennis. From my side, what I had to do was to serve and to move well. I did this. I’m really happy with the win” – the Romanian said after the mathc. The win helped Beru reach the quarterfinals. Her opponent in the next match will be Tereza Martincova, whose opponent – Elena Rybakina – had previously withdrawn from the tournament.
