FINALISTS OF ST. PETERSBURG LADIES TROPHY 2022 DOUBLES EVENT ALICJA ROSOLSKA AND ERINE ROUTLIFFE: «WE WOULD LOVE TO PLAY TOGETHER IN ST. PETERSBURG NEXT YEAR»
This tournament is something special for you, Alicja, because you could have made it double…
Alicja Rosolska: Yes it is nice to come back to the place where you were winning before and I really hoped that today we were also going to get the trophy. Unfortunately it didn’t work, but I would say, that St.Petersburg Ladies Trophy is a great tournament and I am really happy to play here.
Now it must be summertime in New Zealand, so how is it to for you to meet the snow and the cold. And what is your game synergy with Alicja, what is that chemistry all about – she plays more like with volleying, you more of a server or what?
Erine Routliffe: Yes, obviously there is summertime now, but unfortunately I haven’t been back in about 2 years in case of coronavirus, I live in Canada now, in Montreal – so I am actually used to the cold. As far as playing with Alicja goes, I have so much fun, game style is yes, she loves being at the net, I think we are still trying to figure it out even we played 3-4 times, so we are still trying to figure it out, we are still trying to find our identity as a team. I really enjoy playing with her, I have a lot of fun on court.
Are we going to see you next year in the same combination?
Erine Routliffe: I can’t say it for sure, but I hope so. I think we are going to come back next year.
Alicja Rosolska: Yes, I think the same. Right now we are trying to figure out what we are going to play next week, if we get in together to the next tournament and if our ranking is high enough to play together. So we are really focused on our nearest tournaments, like Indian Wells, Miami. You are really asking us a hard question asking about next year. But we would love to play together in St. Petersburg next year.
What are your most pleasant memories to bring from St. Petersburg?
Erine Routliffe: It is hard to say… But we are definitely going to say, that we loved the hotel so much, it is amazing – we loved the breakfast, it is incredible. But also people, buildings are gorgeous, I have never seen a city like that. We have had a wonderful quick promenade.
Alicja Rosolska: Yes, I agree, the hotel was great, but most of all I will remember the people who worked in the hotel, in the organizing committee, at the player’s desk. Everyone was very friendly. We didn’t have the opportunity to walk much because it was quite cold outside and we spent all our time on the court.
